Acceptance Samples

Random samples of accounts pulled from each of the TPS Universes which are audited for compliance with the rules of their associated universe.

Date Universe Built

This is the date the TPS Universe will be generated. For example, the TPS Collections Universe contains all accounts which had not paid Q1 debt, and must be built before Notice of Assessments are sent. So the Universe Built Date will be 05/09/YYYY (The day before Q1 NOA’s are issued.) Once this universe is built, the collections process occurs for all accounts contained within, and the Sample is pulled sometime in November. So if 10,000 accounts are delinquent on 05/09/YYYY, we will pull a sample of 60 accounts in November to verify that all applicable collection processes have been followed correctly between May and November.

Random Numbers

These are provided by USDOL. The random number is part of the algorithm for pulling a random sample of accounts from the universe.

TPS Work Plan

The plan for generating the TPS Universes and their associated Acceptance Samples. This allows Staff to set the generation dates and parameters for the report year.

Universe

A set of accounts which contain a specific set of data, such as a status or process, which occurred in the report year. The agency pulls random samples from each universe to verify the system is processing various functional areas correctly.
