Objective(s): |
The objective of this process is for an Internal User to designate the elections of coverage on behalf of multiple owners who each individually own greater than 25% of an LLC Corporation. |
Before you begin: |
• The LLC Corporation will need to have a reason to change or designate their exemption elections. (Multiple owners with at least 25% share can designate exemption elections.) • The LLC Corporation will have completed and printed a form, signed it, and mailed it into DEW in order for the process to begin. |
What happens next: |
• SUITS reflects the updated exemption elections. |

Click the Employer Services left-navigation menu item from the Home screen. |
SUITS displays the Employer Services Maintenance screen. |

Click the Update Owner Officer Exemption Election hyperlink. |
SUITS displays the Coverage Exemption Election Maintenance screen. |

3. |
Enter or search for the Employer Account ID. |
|
Staff can use the Magnifying Glass feature to search for an employer if the Employer Account ID is not known. |

Click the Search button. |
SUITS will display the Employer Information panel and the Search Results panel. |

For each owner, select either the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ radio button to designate the election. |
|
Choosing ‘Yes’ will exempt the owner or officer from having their earnings taxed.
Choosing ‘No’ will not exempt the owner or officer. |

Enter an Election Begin Date |

An Election Begin Date is required for either a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ election. |
7. |
Enter an Election End Date, if applicable. |
|
An Election End Date is required when the election is changing from ‘Yes’ to ‘No’ and is optional for an election changing from ‘No’ to ‘Yes’. |

Click the Save button. |
SUITS saves the exemption election updates. |

SUITS sends a message to the employer portal notifying the employer of the updated exemption elections. |
