Select the Document main menu item. |
This displays the document tracking maintenance screen. |

Enter in Search Criteria and click the ‘Search’ button. |
This will trigger the portal to retrieve all documents meeting the search criteria. |
You may select the document type you are searching for, name or narrow down results based on the date you received the document. |

Click the hyperlinked Document Name to open/view the document that is to be protested. |

The link required to file a protest does not appear until after the document has been viewed. |

After viewing the document, click the ‘File Protest’ link that now appears in the same line as the document name. |
Clicking this link to start the File Protest wizard. |

Read the Protest Information section and click the ‘Next’ button. |
This proceeds you to the next step in the wizard. |

Review Contact Information, and click the ‘Edit’ button. |
This will bring you to update the contact information. |
This may not be a required step if contact information is up to date. |

Update the Contact Information, then scroll down to view more information. |

Update this section by entering the First and Last name of the contact, the address as well as phone number. Note there is no Save button. This information will be saved upon clicking the Next button as shown in a later step. |

Enter the Reason for Protest, attach any relevant documentation, and then scroll down for more information. |

• Reason for Protest: User this text box to describe the reasoning behind filing the protest. • Upload Supporting Documents: Attach any supplemental/supporting documentation desired to be sent to DEW with this protest. To upload more than one document, a user will need to upload them one at a time. |

Confirm the document(s) uploaded (if applicable), and answer question(s) regarding need for an interpreter, then click the ‘Next’ button. |
You will be brought to the next step of the wizard |
The interpreter selection will default to No. When the selection is changed to Yes, the additional dropdown appears regarding which language the interpreter is needed for. |

Answer Yes, No or Unknown at this time regarding whether or not it will be an outside representation work on the employer’s behalf. |

Upon clicking Yes, more fields will appear to enter regarding the representative. This is not a required field during the initial process. This is mainly for record keeping should the protest later be upgraded to an appeal where representation is required. |

Enter in the representative’s information and click the ‘Add New’ button. |
The representative’s information will be added to the protest record |

Review the information, add additional representatives (if applicable) and scroll down to see more info. |

Attach any supporting documents as they relate to the representative and click the ‘Next’ button. |

For example, you may attach supporting documentation including POA. |

Review the information on the screen, and go to each tab to review the information you have entered throughout the wizard. Then click the confirmation checkbox and click the ‘Next’ button. |

From here, SUITS creates a protest record for DEW staff to review via the workflow titled Review Employer Protest. The protest will have the Protest Level of ‘Protest’ and the status of ‘Pending’. |
