3.

Click the ‘New’ button.

The system displays the Code Maintenance screen.

4.

Enter the Code ID.

5.

Enter the Description.

6.

Click the ‘Save’ button.

The system displays the save message.

7.

Click the ‘Refresh’ button.

The system refreshes the servers to reflect the changes.

8.

The system changes the Code ID to read-only.

9.

In the Code Values panel, click the ‘New’ button.

The system displays the Code Value Maintenance screen.

This process includes adding code values because a code ID with no values is meaningless.

10.

Enter the Code.

11.

Enter the Description.

12.

Enter the Start Date.

13.

Click the ‘Save and New’ button.

The system displays a blank maintenance screen.

This process shows creating multiple value records because a code group generally will have multiple values.

14.

Repeat steps 9-12 until you have entered all the values in the code group.

If the code group has many values, or if there are many code groups to enter, consider turning the task over to the database administrator. They can edit the tables from the back end without using the system interface to manually create code group records. In this case, the code group is for California counties, of which there are 58. It probably makes more sense to have the DBA update the tables instead of creating 58 records manually.

15.

Click the ‘Save’ button.

The system displays the save message.

‘Save’ is not selected until all values in the code group have been entered.

16.

Click the ‘Refresh’ button.

The system refreshes the servers to reflect the changes.
