Process Recertification of Tax Paid – No Certification

      Reimbursing Employer or Agent on behalf of reimbursing Employer

      Internal User on behalf of reimbursing Employer

Objective(s):

To attempt to get recertification of tax paid for a calendar year and receiving a “No Certification” message.

Before you begin:

      The reimbursing Employer tries to get their certification of UI tax paid due to an IRS audit or federal tax filing. *Reimbursing Employers do not pay UI taxes, so they cannot their certification letter.

What happens next:

      SUITS displays a “No Certification Available” message.

1. 

From the Employer Portal Home screen, click the IRS 940 Certification main menu item.

SUITS displays the Employer IRS Certification Wizard.

 

2. 

Click the Request for IRS 940 Certification hyperlink.

SUITS displays the No Certification Available screen.

The screen displays the following message:

“We are unable to process your recent request for an IRS 940 Certification. See below for details:

 

South Carolina Employer Account ID 96577751 is registered and has been filing as a Governmental.

 

Governmental employers are not subject to FUTA and cannot claim a credit against FUTA. Therefore, no FUTA Certification can be issued.

 

If you have additional questions or concerns, submit your questions here (here is hyperlinked)”.

Click the Finish button.

SUITS returns to the IRS 940 Certification Maintenance screen.
